Ever walk out of an interview or a presentation feeling absolutely sure you bombed it?
You’re not alone. I’ve seen it happen time and again with clients I’ve coached through the interview process.
In the past couple of weeks, one client walked out of a panel interview feeling like she got no reaction at all; just total silence from one of the interviewers (nightmare fuel). She was convinced she’d completely missed the mark... until she found out she’d been moved on to the next round!
Another client went into a final interview feeling under the weather and was certain she hadn’t shown up as her best self. Then she got the offer and it came in higher than she expected!!
These stories are such great reminders that we often don’t see our own strengths as clearly as others do. One of my favorite things about coaching is helping people to recognize their own value and step forward with confidence. If you’re sitting in that headspace of “I’m not measuring up,” consider that you might be doing better than you think.
I’m absolutely thrilled for them, and these moments are exactly why I love coaching. If you’re in the middle of a job search, stepping into a new leadership role, or just working through a bit of self-doubt at work, I’d love to help!
