How to Handle Imposter Syndrome: Two Simple Moves to Quiet the Doubt

Anyone out there struggling with imposter syndrome??? You're definitely not alone!

I coach people through imposter syndrome All. The. Time. The irony is, I fight it myself, too.

As I grow my coaching practice, I often hear two voices. One that whispers, “Who do you think you are?” and another that points to real evidence that my work helps people. Both can be true. I can feel doubt, and the work can matter.

When the doubt gets loud, I use two simple moves I also use with my clients:

  1. Evidence check: If the story in your head is “they don’t respect you,” ask: Do they treat others that way? Do you have proof, or are you guessing? Do you have evidence to the contrary?

  2. Value map: What do you bring that others don’t? How do you round out the leadership team? Why did they choose you?

Impostor syndrome rarely disappears, but it doesn't have to drive. Name it, check the evidence, map your value, then take one small action anyway.

And remember: even coaches, leaders, and executives deal with this. Experiencing it shows that you’re human, and is often the first sign that you’re on the edge of growth!
